When teachers and counselors need to communicate with parents regarding a students ongoing progress a shared Google spreadsheet has proven to be a handy solution. The spreadsheet is updated by stakeholders and each time the spreadsheet is updated an email notification is sent out with information regarding the update and a link to the spreadsheet.
